Chapter 4: How to Eat it

Most standard meals contain a fixed amount from one of the three main categories:

PROTEIN

VEGETABLES

FRUIT

90% of patients will fall within these guidelines with a small exception requiring us to re-design each meal plan. If your meal plan asks for 3.5 ounces of cooked meat per meal, 1 cup of fruit, and 2 cups of vegetables, it is your choice as to which foods from those categories you choose to fill it with.

COOKING

Meat can be baked, broiled, barbequed, poached, etc.  You are free to cook it any way you like however no fat is allowed in the process.

Fruits and vegetables are encouraged to be eaten uncooked and can be mixed together for purposes of salad.  The juice of a lemon can be used as a dressing or for flavor on your meats and salt is allowed also.  Most herbs and seasonings are ok as long as the ingredients are real foods.  Monosodium Glutamate is not a food source so any seasoning that includes this or something similar is not allowed on the protocol.  We encourage you to get as creative as you can to make sure you enjoy the foods you eat during the protocol however you must stay within the food guidelines!

WHAT DO I DRINK?

During the protocol we recommend drinking one liter of water for every 100lbs of body weight as a minimum.  Alcohol is not permitted during the protocol nor is any drink that has calories.  Coffee and tea have no limits however both must be plain and without milk or sugar.  Stevia as a sweetener is allowed however any artificial sweeteners such as Sucralose, Aspartame, Acesulfame K, etc., are not allowed.
